Hi lovelies! Sweaters don’t have to be the big comfy thing you throw on over leggings when there is nothing else to wear and it’s raining outside. In fact with a few simple accessories you can take an otherwise plain sweater and create a super chic look. Remember when I tossed out the fashion rule of not wearing white after Labor Day? Well I’m breaking rules again and wearing black and brown together. Who says black and brown can’t mix?! I love this color combination because with the right accents it reminds me of the beauty of fall and brings out so many lovely earth tones. Read on to see how I elevated this simple sweater!
My sweater is actually a cowl neck sweater that I got for a great deal during the Fall Nordstrom Sale. I tied the ends of my Pashima scarf together and looped it to give the illusion of an infinity scarf. By wrapping a scarf around my neck I was able to add some color and dimension to the outfit. OK, so maybe not “color,” but brown is a color too, am I right? I think it’s a completely underrated color that doesn’t get enough love! You can easily re-create this same look with any color of scarf you want to add extra pop to your outfit!
I added my brown boots to accent the brown in the scarf. This gives the look some uniformity so that the brown doesn’t look out of place! If you’re lucky enough like me, you’ll have the right bag to tie in all three colors. This bag was a gift from my mom!
Finally, when working with plain colors or simple outfits, I love to add sparkle to elevate the look. The best way to do that is through jewelry. These Anthropologie earrings are such a unique piece and I keep finding fun ways to incorporate them into my outfits. It’s amazing what a little bit of sparkle can do for an outfit!
I love all the details and the scenery! You look amazing and gorgeous as always, you always bring a smile to my face. Hugs, Kait
