The Real Reason Why I Blog

I recently read an article that recirculated on the internet about how much fashion bloggers make. Particularly, some of the more famous bloggers and how rich and famous they are. “Wow! I can certainly do that,” or “That might be me someday,” were a couple of the thoughts that popped into my head. But let me make one thing clear: that’s not WHY I blog. I did not begin my blog with any long-term goals of getting rich and famous on the internet. I guarantee these top fashion bloggers (who many consider rich and famous) did not set out to make lots of money either. They were trailblazers in their industry and didn’t have anyone to “copy.” They started because they were truly excited about what they wrote about and wanted a creative outlet to explore their passions. This article got me thinking about what I blog and today I share them with you.HERboutique.com | Little Pink Dress | Bodycon | Lace-Ups | The Real Reason Why I Blog | Style Miss Molly

  1. To inspire others.

My ultimate goal is to bring optimism, because we all need it. I want to encourage others when they’re feeling worn out from the trials of daily life and to remind women of their true beauty. I want to be a light in a world full of darkness and bring hope when all seems lost.HERboutique.com | Little Pink Dress | Bodycon | Lace-Ups | The Real Reason Why I Blog | Style Miss Molly

  2. To explore my creativity.

There are so many different outlets of creativity that I am able to explore with blogging. I love to get creative with the outfits I style and the photos that are taken. I love to get creative with the companies I collaborate with; always finding new and exciting ways to share brands that I love and feel connected to. I love to get creative in my writing and the topics I choose to write about whether it be fashion or daily life inspiration. I love to get creative with my goals for my business with new ideas for content and future growth.HERboutique.com | Little Pink Dress | Bodycon | Lace-Ups | The Real Reason Why I Blog | Style Miss MollyHERboutique.com | Little Pink Dress | Bodycon | Lace-Ups | The Real Reason Why I Blog | Style Miss Molly

  3. To free my mind.

My mind is constantly racing with new ideas. All. The. Time. Yes, it’s true that blogging at times only enhances this “problem” with more ideas for my business, but it helps me focus on things I really love. Writing is my form of release and outlet that I need to have at the end of a tough day. Writing is a love and passion of mine and something I will continue whether or not I have a blog.HERboutique.com | Little Pink Dress | Bodycon | Lace-Ups | The Real Reason Why I Blog | Style Miss Molly

  4. To become a better person.

Writing helps me become a better person in numerous different ways. It takes discipline to stay on schedule and to stay motivated. I learn every day how to become a better businesswoman, how to be my own boss, and explore the world of entrepreneurship. To teach others and inspire others I too have to constantly be learning and growing. My blog helps me refocus my mind on topics that are important and just as much as I offer advice, I too am reminded to practice those healthy habits.HERboutique.com | Little Pink Dress | Bodycon | Lace-Ups | The Real Reason Why I Blog | Style Miss Molly

I do not blog to:
  •      Make money
  •      Get rich
  •      Become famous
  •      Get discovered
  •      Get attention
If these are your goals for blogging then you’re doing it wrong! You should be blogging because you love it, not because you want to be rich. Blog because you want to, not because your given the chance to make money through paid collaborations. Blog because it’s part of who you are, not because you feel the need to show the world what you’re made of. Blog because it genuinely makes you happy, not because the idea of being famous is thrilling. If you have a blog, I encourage you to write down your reasons for blogging. When you feel like you are losing your authenticity as a blogger or simply need a little extra motivation, re-read these reasons and let it inspire you to keep doing what you love. Remember your “why.”HERboutique.com | Little Pink Dress | Bodycon | Lace-Ups | The Real Reason Why I Blog | Style Miss MollyHERboutique.com | Little Pink Dress | Bodycon | Lace-Ups | The Real Reason Why I Blog | Style Miss Molly
My advice to anyone with a blog is simple:
  • Find what sets you a part and stick with it.
  • Never compromise who you are or what you’re made of.
  • Always be yourself and be completely authentic in everything you do, say or write.
  • Do not try to find success by copying others.HERboutique.com | Little Pink Dress | Bodycon | Lace-Ups | The Real Reason Why I Blog | Style Miss Molly
If you can adhere to these simple blogging rules I know you will find success in your own way. It may not be what you expected. It may not come as fast as you are anticipating. But here is a fact: you will be so much more at peace with yourself and what you do if you know that at the end of the day you stayed true to who you were. At the end of the day, I will read your blog because you are YOU and completely unique, not because you are a Pink Peonies or Gal Meets Glam lookalike. Remember never to compromise for anything or anyone. You are a gem and unique above anyone else! Keep being you!

I love this!!! Blogging is supposed to be fun too. I started getting overwhelmed and felt like I HAD to do xyz in order to feel like I was an actual “blogger”. But that made it not fun and I started my blog to have fun!! I had to take a step and realize that I blo for me (and about 5 other people who read my posts 😂). I’m so glad you wrote this, being yourself is what makes the difference

Amen, sista! Blog for you & you only – I always say that i write the kind of posts that I’d personally want to read. Not what I THINK people want to read, not what I think will go viral or get exposure or money, but simply things I want to say. That’s what makes it fun and enjoyable 🙂

  7. September 13, 2016 / 8:40 am

Girl I can so relate to this on so many levels!! It’s always so hard to explain to people why I’m so passionate about my blog when it’s not a full-time job…there are so many reasons why I love it and why I pour my soul into it and I love meeting other bloggers who feel the same! If I get rich and famous someday that’s cool but if I don’t I will still keep on blogging!

I so agree – when people ask me why I blog my simple answer is “because I love it.” I love the creative outlet, and helping people, and writing!

Loved this post 🙂 I’m very new to blogging and through it I’m starting to figure out what separates me from the rest. blogging is such a great way for me to share my personal style and inspire others to develop their own different style so they feel beautiful and confident. Through this journey so far, it’s been such a great way for me to think differently and build my own confidence in myself and my own “brand”! Thanks so much for sharing. So excited to where my blogging journey will take me!

Inspiring others and expressing myself are definitely the reason I both started and continue to blog. Love your suggestions to keep the “why” in your mind at all times. It definitely should not about “fame” or money, and if those are the reasons someone starts a blog, I think they’ll end up disappointed. 😉

Why do I blog? I typed my answer in the comment box and it was longer than some of my blog entries. I didn’t want to crowed your comment feed. Therefore my long winded story will remain a mystery and I just wasted away part of my day. lol.

You sure made me think! Love you.

I agree with all of this! I blog to spread inspiration and better myself, not to become rich & famous. A little extra money here and there is awesome, but it’s not what drives me. Thanks for this! And your that dress looks great!

Seriously one of my favorite posts by you, because I resonate so much! I mostly blog to inspire and explore my creativity as well! And because of that, blogging has made me a better person, and a better future counselor/educator.

I love this post! I feel like some people blog because “everyone’s doing it” or they think they can get rich and famous quickly. Some people also tend to get lost and lose their authenticity when they get more recognition. What I love about blogging is being able to express myself through writing (I’m horrible at public speaking) and having the ability to be informative and helpful towards others. It’s a lot of fun but blogging also requires a lot of work! It’s nice to hear that you’re doing it for the right reasons! Your blog is very inspirational!

I agree that you should blog because you love it and I love having a creative outlet too! I started blogging for fun but some days I do find it a bit overwhelming and I never realised how much work was involved!

THIS is EXACTLY what I needed to read. I’ve recently felt like I’ve been blogging for all the reasons you said not to blog. When I see all these successful bloggers, I just get in the mindset of “do what they did and you’ll be like them,” and it blurred my vision for my blog. I don’t want to compromise my authenticity or who I am for attention, followers, or money. I blog because it gives me a voice. I blog to inspire. I blog to build relationships with people. Thank you so much for sharing this. It really helped clear some things for me 🙂
