The Honest Truth About How I Feel About Trends

We’ve all been there. You see a trend off the runway or in the stores that you love, and others that have you going, “What were they thinking?!” Off-the-shoulder tops are one of this year’s hottest trends. No doubt for amazing reasons. They are feminine, light weight, and flirty. I didn’t always get into this trend because I felt like many trends, it wouldn’t stick around. But I am finding myself adoring off the shoulder tops more and finding new ways to wear it! I wore this trend recently in my post Why It Shouldn’t Matter What Others Think of You and was fully satisfied embracing a little bohemian chic vibes. If you’re interested in trying out a trend, but not sure how you feel about it try, read on to try out some of my tips for embracing trends.

I prefer a style that is classic and can be wearable for years. That’s not to say that I don’t love to incorporate many of the trending styles into my wardrobe each season, but I am highly selective about which ones I choose to incorporate. Today I’m sharing with you some tips I’ve found helpful in deciding which trends to keep and which to leave alone.

1. Where them only if it fits your style

This could  be obvious, but don’t wear any trend just to fit in. If you love it then by all means wear it and feel great doing it! However, don’t feel the need to wear it just because it’s trending. Not every trend is meant for you or your style!

2. Don’t invest a lot of money in them
Remember they are called “trends” for a reason and won’t always stick around. My suggestion would be to spend more on classic pieces that will last for years. Reminding yourself that trends come and go will help you determine where to invest your money.

3. Find ways to make it look your own

One of my favorite ways to try a trend is by mixing the new with the old from my wardrobe. For example, if you’re going for the bohemian vibes, there’s no need to make every part of your outfit full embracing the trend. By incorporating aspects of it that are your own, without diving full into the trend, you will keep the look authentic to your style.

Remember, that style is something that is completely personal. To end with one of my favorite quotes, “Fashion comes and goes, but style remains forever.” It’s definitely all about how you wear it and how you feel confident embracing it!

Uhh, Molly, great, great topic! I agree with you. I am not someone who strictly follows the trends. I can be a such a rebel, trust me. I too prefer a style that is classic. A style that makes me feel comfortable in my own skin. That is the most important, if you ask me. It’s okay to try things, new trends etc., but at the end we should stay true to ourselves.

I love this so much! I only wear trends if they fit in with my style. I’m not one to wear a trend just because it’s trendy. 😉

You make such a good point! Trends are hard to escape (especially as fashion bloggers) but if we only wear what we love than it is worth it!
