TextureTame {A Product Review}

As many of you know, I live in Seattle, where the humidity is so high and the rain just causes my hair to frizz out like crazy. I have naturally wavy hair and it does whatever it wants. If you have hair like mine, you know how difficult it is to style! Unless I put in some type of serum I cannot control the frizz, especially when I let it air dry. When DermStore approached me to try TextureTame, I said, “Yes, of course I’ll try it!” I was a bit hesitant at first, because honestly I have tried too many “tame your hair” serums or leave-in conditioners and most of them end up leaving my hair looking way too oily and contain a lot of chemicals. But I thought I’d give this a shot because the lack of harsh chemicals intrigued me and I’m all about more natural products.

Step 1: Eliminate

*If you have color treated hair like mine, you’ll need to start with step 2, then 1-3.

Apply to clean, dry hair using a wide toothed comb to fully saturate. Leave on for 30 minutes and use shampoo to rinse it out. To be honest, at first it smelled a little like playdough to me (perhaps just my Kindergarten teacher side speaking), however, by the time I was finished my hair smelled delicious and this step is only to be used once every three months. I can handle that!

stylemissmolly_2422_blogstylemissmolly_2702_blogstylemissmolly_2617_blogStep 2: Moisture Lock

Towel-dry your hair and apply moisture lock with a wide-tooth comb. Put on a plastic shower cap and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse out with shampoo and towel dry. I definitely looked a little silly in a shower cap!

Step 3: Finish

This last step can be used daily to either towel-dried hair before styling or to dry hair for added silkiness. Add a teaspoon amount and comb through hair. Blow dry, style as you normally do, and observe the awesome results! This serum is by far my favorite and something I will definitely be using every day in my styling routine. It smells amazing!

This product system definitely eliminated my frizz and made my hair feel so silky smooth. Check out my before and afters and see for yourself. Styling was really easy too! The best part? I didn’t even need to straighten my hair to get it to look like this after blow drying. Now THAT’S a miracle.  It’s nice to finally have a product that will stand up against our crazy Seattle weather. I’m very thankful for that!

    This def looks worth trying (your hair looks amazing.) Although we’re having some dry, cold weather in LA right now, we had some major humid fall weather, and the rain is coming, and my hair does the frizz as well. Ok now, the key is: did you go out in the moist air to test it out? My hair looks good in the bathroom, then I go outside and it springs up. 😉

    • December 22, 2015 / 9:17 pm

      Kim – Haha you’re so right! That’s usually how it is for me too 😉 I knew going outside would be the true test. I did go out in the moist air and there was definitely not as much frizz as I was used too! I even wore a hat and when I took off my hat my hair still looked good, and that never happens! Will continue to use and tame that frizz!
