It’s true. I’m a city girl and always will be at heart. Having family in the country, however, means I get the wonderful opportunity to visit them in the mountains. As you might have figured out, the attire is much different. If you’re struggling with what to wear when you visit the country yourself, this city girl has it all figured out and I can show you ways that will leave you looking and feeling your best! I’m giving you three tips to help on your next country getaway.
1. Wear heels.
It’s OK to forget practicality. If you wore heels in the city, then by all means wear them in the country, although you may want to leave your Louboutins at home. Sometimes I’ll wear my chunky heeled boots, for a nice compromise. Clearly in this look I wasn’t too worried about wearing my favorite leopard print heels! If you do choose to wear heels like I did, be comfortable with the fact that you will be labeled as an outsider. My family is so understanding and wouldn’t expect me to show up any other way!
2. Dress up your jeans.
Think casual chic. Jeans and heels are one of my favorite combinations to showcase this casual chic look. I don’t feel overdressed when I wear jeans and still feel my normal chic self. Pair them with a chic top or cute sweater like the one I’m wearing. Accessorize with some jewelry, your favorite wool coat, or some leather gloves and you’ve perfected the wintery country-chic look too.

3. Don’t forget the lipstick.
Just because you’re going to the country, doesn’t mean makeup and lipstick are optional. Be bold and go for that bold lip color that has you feeling fabulous! You’ll be glad you did!
Keep smiling!
P.S. Don’t worry. No shoes were harmed in the capturing of these photos!
You look fabulous! You’re right, people will stare if you wear heels in the country, lol. Oh well, I do it all the time too. Love your style!

PS: My family has learned to accept me wearing impractical things as well!
Author
Thank you so much Kait! I think that’s awesome that your family has accepted your impracticality of fashion too! haha! I would totally send some snow your way if I could! We don’t get snow too often here, but we’re so close to the mountains that it’s just a short drive away! Hope DC cools down for you!
🙂 Molly

Thanks girl! I had a total blast playing in the snow!

I just moved from NYC to rural Southern Ontario Canada so I feel like I am an expert in this area!!!!! Lipstick is an excellent idea. So are luxurious fabrics and accessories!! We wear our boots and put our heels on later here though (can’t have the snow and mud ruining those nice shoes!!). I also find I seem to spend more money to buy nice clothes instead of buying as MANY. Trips to the city aren’t as frequent so I splurge 🙂 nice article!!!!!!!

OK girl you definitely know exactly what I mean! If you live in the country, definitely protect your heels for the special times! and I totally agree. Buying MORE doesn’t always mean better. Investing in quality pieces is what it’s all about!
Thanks for the love!

Eveything is perfection! From your sweater to your necklace, the coat and your heels!
