The Fourth of July is coming up and I’m always looking for fashion inspiration for the holiday. One of my favorite looks for the fourth is when nautical meets patriotic. Blue and white stripes are definitely popular this season and you don’t have to go sailing to pull off the nautical look. To be more patriotic, throw in a pop of red and voila! You have a themed outfit appropriate for celebrating Independence Day. Read on for some tips on creating your own Fourth of July inspired nautical look.
We’ve all been there. You try something on you love so much in the store, and it just doesn’t fit. It’s so hard to let it go as you sit there to pull, twist, tuck and try to make that article of clothing work. You end up purchasing it because you love the print or style of it so much. After you get it home, the dreaded happens. You never wear it. You love it still, but every time you go to put it on something just feels off. You hang it up and save it for the “wear another day” collection. This has happened to me on numerous occasions. I’ve learned that you just have to let it go!
I was tagged recently to list ten things that make me happy. I thought I’d share them with you!
This is my first “Tip Tuesday” post and after recent purchase of some peplum tops from Express, I am so excited to discuss peplums on the blog today.
First and foremost, what is a peplum? By practical definition it’s a short flare of fabric that is attached to the waist of blouses, jackets, and sometimes even skirts or dresses. If it’s hard for you to tell the difference between your waist and your hips, then a peplum top is a great option for creating an illusion that there is a difference. Not only does the cinched waist of the peplum create definition of your waist, but it also draws your eye away from your hips. That means this style works great for people with little to no hips, as well as those with fuller hips. How awesome is that?!
As a Kindergarten teacher, I am known as creative and full of energy. I love my students so much and this past year has brought so many sweet memories. One day during a shoe tying lesson, I had a student ask why I never have shoes that need tying. Before I even had an opportunity to answer, another student shouted, “Because she loves fashion!” They know me so well and always know how to bring a smile to my face! As we ended the year with a Kindergarten graduation, and knowing I had to speak in front of everyone, I planned my outfit to portray a creative professional.
