What does a fashion blogger do to ring in her 27th birthday in style? Stay at the only waterfront hotel on Lake Washington of course! After many days of rain, the sun began to peak out and it was a glorious weekend birthday adventure staying at the 4-star Woodmark Hotel! The Woodmark Hotel is a chic boutique hotel and a prime spot for great views on the waterfront. Lucky for me, it was just a short drive across the bridge from Seattle, but staycation or not, it’s still a vacation and I loved every second of it!

Hotel Amenities
Right from the beginning, my boyfriend Brad and I were welcomed by the friendly and extremely accommodating hotel staff. Upon check-in, we were delighted to receive a champagne refreshment. Now, that’s a special treat! And when I got to my room (which by the way had an amazing waterfront view) I had a special birthday card and dessert made from their on-site pastry chef awaiting me with a chilled bottle of champagne. Let’s just say I was more than spoiled this weekend! They have fantastic services and amenities for their guests.
Some of my favorite amenities included:
- Raid the Pantry – Access to free late night snacks — you BET I took advantage of this!
- Access to Kayaks – The sun was almost warm enough for this, but I will definitely have to go back and explore more of Lake Washington.
- Access to Beach Cruiser Bicycles – In classic Molly and Brad style, we took the bikes out at night with our headlamps on. (Most people would call me crazy, but I even hike and garden in the dark with my headlamp, haha.) This was so fun to explore around the area and see the quiet nightlife on the water!
- Pillow Talk Menu – I got to choose my very own pillow from their list, just how I like it! Bonus, it came in a pink pillow case 🙂
- Upgraded Linens and Bedding – Can we talk about the sheets for a quick second? I did not want to get out of bed! So cozy!
- Courtesy SUV Transportation (within a 5 mile Radius) – Since we live in the area, we ended up driving and valeting our car, but this is a great service to take advantage of, especially for out of towners.
- Oversized Bath Towels and Robes – Yes, I lived in my bathrobe as much as possible that weekend.
- Anyone who loves boating, jetskiing, paddleboarding, or kayaking can take advantage of their Waterfront Adventures program right on site. If the weather was nicer, you would have definitely found us on the water, but we plan to go back and jet ski Lake Washington very soon!
The Still Spa
I started my birthday morning with a massage at the Woodmark’s Still Spa and let me just tell you it was the perfect way to begin my day! I have been desperately in need of a little special pampering. This is a great place for women (and men, of course) to get pampered and I would travel to Kirkland just for this luxurious experience.
Their spa services include anything from massages, facials, to nail and waxing services to name a few. My favorite part was the soothing relaxation room where I was able to sip tea and relax in my cozy bathrobe before and after my treatment, but their rainfall shower in the locker room was also an added treat.
I chose to get the Aromatherapy Bliss Massage and my masseuse, Laura, was extremely professional in selecting the right essential oils and experience to what my body needed most. The sage and lavender smelled amazing! I wanted it to be relaxing, but I also had some tight muscles that needed to be worked out from all my blogging and computer work. I must confess I’m very picky about my massages and this one did not disappoint in the slightest! It was so relaxing, I nearly nodded off at the very end — that’s a first! Closing out the session, she even gave me some tips for stretches and self-care for my muscles. Thank you, Laura!

Where to Eat
Right on Carillon Point at the Woodmark Hotel there are quite a few dining selections all within brief walking distance. Here’s a few we were able to try:
Carillon Kitchen
On my birthday, I had a fresh pressed juice and paleo muffin from Carillon Kitchen. They just opened last month which is pretty exciting and they source a lot of healthy farm to table ingredients. In Carillon Plaza, it was right across from my massage at the Still Spa, so it was the perfect treat to start my morning off right and I didn’t have to travel far for it.
Beach Cafe
On the lower level of the hotel, I had a special birthday brunch at their Beach Cafe looking directly out at the dock and lake – with mimosas of course. The ambiance is both vibrant and family friendly and it’s a great spot to both people- and boat-watch! I decided to get a bagel and lox, because I haven’t had one since I was in New York a couple years ago and it was so fresh and delicious. As a sweets person, I couldn’t pass up dessert either. I chose the gluten free Brownie Pie A La Mode, and it was fantastic! With their own on-site pastry chef, you can’t go wrong with anything from their dessert menu.
Bin on the Lake
Two Kirkland locals (one at Cactus and one at a wine show room) both mentioned how much they’ve loved dining at Bin on the Lake after we told them our dinner plans for my birthday. This increased my anticipation for celebrating my birthday dinner here, and let me tell you their praise lived up to my expectations. We had a phenomenal view of Lake Washington and the timing was more than perfect with the sun setting as we ate. I wasn’t sure what to spend more time looking at — the stunning views or my delicious locally-soured food and Northwest wine!
In the area
Downtown Kirkland
The Woodmark Hotel is a prime location for many great adventures in the area including shopping, dining and wine and spirit tasting. Since the day before my birthday happens to be Cinco de Mayo we headed to downtown Kirkland and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Cactus. While you’re downtown, check out all their charming little boutiques and dessert at Lady Yum Macarons is a must. They packaged my box with a little Happy Birthday label!
Woodinville
My friends, if you like wine, this is the place to go. Woodinville Wine Country has over 100 wineries and tasting rooms and it’s only a short 15 minute drive from the hotel. On my birthday, some local tasting rooms were hosting a special passport to do several wine tastings — YES please! We took advantage of this and it turned out to be a perfect birthday adventure!
With my 27th birthday starting off with such a spectacular time, I know this year is going to be amazing! Thanks for following along my journey 🙂
Keep smiling!
