I started this morning just like any other. Checking my e-mails before work and slowly trying to wake myself up. I am definitely not a morning person! I had intended to share a fall look on the blog, but an unfortunate thing happened and caused my mind to be focused on other things. In between the very sweet comments and replies similar to ones so many of you give daily, I read some very unpleasant comments from an anonymous user awaiting approval on my blog. My first hate mail came sooner than I expected. In light of those events, I tossed out all plans to get my fashion post up and felt it on my heart to right this.
Clearly my day was already not to a great start. This person took the time to read my blog and comment on my posts with extremely harsh words, and then got upset that the comments were not readily available for the world to see. As I sat there reading them in shock how anyone could say things so awful, it reminded me of my signature phrase, “Keep smiling.” I write it on the bottom of all my blog posts, but do you know why I say it? The answer is simple. We should each be ready to conquer each day and any challenges it may bring with a smile!
I could have chosen to be crushed by the very unkind words or spew hateful comments back, but instead I chose to forgive, move on, and keep smiling! You see, life is not always full of reasons to smile, but smiling through those moments where you don’t feel like smiling shows your inner beauty. Even in the midst of struggle and chaos, we can choose to smile and be grateful for all the other thousands of reasons we have been given to smile. Do not let other people bring you down! It will change your day and might change someone else’s. You never know who else might be having a bad day and will need your kindness and a smile!
On a final note, for those wondering why I moderate comments, my blog is a positive community. I created it that way and with your help I can keep it that way! I will continue to moderate comments (not because I’m fake or lying to my followers), but simply because I do not condone negativity. This blog is a place to share my personal style and passion for fashion. It is a place to collaborate with other fashion lovers who share their own style with me or need style inspiration. I am by no means an expert, nor do I claim to be. If you read my bio I am simply a Kindergarten teacher sharing my personal style with confidence and smiles! Nothing else. I welcome your comments, input, personal experiences and even your contradictions offered in a positive and constructive way. Together we can share a beautiful journey of fashion!
