How to Find the Perfect Winter Coat

Let’s face it. Winter coats are a staple in your winter wardrobe. I used to view winter coats as something to keep you warm until you got inside a building. I didn’t view the coat as the main outfit or even part of the outfit at all. It wasn’t until my fashion tastes evolved over time that I realized how important a winter coat is! If we spend so much of our winter wearing that coat, then shouldn’t we invest some money and effort into buying something that we love? That is why I replaced my black pea coat with this gorgeous wine colored coat that I’m proud to wear. Because a coat is as much part of the outfit as what you wear underneath, I’m giving you three tips on finding the perfect winter coat today!

 1. Find a color you love.
Yes, you can go with black and there is nothing wrong with that! From experience, once I began wearing coats with bold color I would get a lot of compliments on them. Who knows why, but perhaps it had something to do with the way I carried myself when I wore a coat I adored. There are so many great colors of coats from soft grays and pinks, to bold reds and blues, that there is something for you that will give your confidence the WOW factor.

2. Look for a fit meant for your style and body type.

Finding a fit that suits you can be tricky, but start with a style that is flattering on your body! If you’re having trouble finding a style that works best for you, send me an email and I will be happy to help. Personally, I love to find jackets with a fitted waistline, because I have a tall and narrow frame. This tailored style is also great for a lot of body types because it gives you an hourglass shape. If the coat fits you well, you can’t help but love it!

Remember, this is an item that is meant to be worn over and over again. In fact, it is something that can be worn every day, depending on how many winter coats you like to have. Because of this, it will be worth investing money. Find something that is a great quality and great fit. I’ve found that well-made coats not only last longer, but they have the cutest details such as buttons and zippers. One of the many reasons why I fell in love with this Guess coat. I encourage you to shop around until you find something that you love and fits your style!

    I’m always so stuck on what colour to get that I just end up buying a ton of different colours, which probably isn’t good! I actually just got my first red one and went outside my comfort zone:-) Yay!
