Color Blocking in the Fall

You may have seen color blocking done before and perhaps it was in bold, bright colors. A powerful look to achieve, but usually done in the heat of the summer. However, this look can still be achieved in the fall and still fit the elegance of the season. Today’s outfit plays down the bright colors and instead works with beautiful sage green tones. I was immediately drawn to this dress because of the asymmetrical color blocking and sophisticated silhouette. Between the contrast that the two colors created and the uniqueness of its asymmetrical nature, these aspects come together to form a harmonious, perfect fall dress.

stylemissmolly_0037_blogWhen styling outfits with dramatic color blocking, I find it beneficial to style with neutral accessories. Given that I wanted to create a look that captured the essence of fall, pairing it with my cognac shoes and bag kept it in neutral heaven.stylemissmolly_0097_blogstylemissmolly_9988_blog stylemissmolly_0064_blog-2
Another feature I adore about this dress is the detachable belt. Keeping the sash a little longer than the bow created a longer line and accentuates the waistline further. I’m all for creating extra definition in the waist!
stylemissmolly_0024_blog stylemissmolly_9984_blog stylemissmolly_0042_blog-2Sticking with the gold accessories was the obvious choice for the fall! A strong gold cuff and long necklace (similar) added instant elegance to this already sophisticated dress.
stylemissmolly_0013_blogThis dress is definitely comfortable to wear! It has the softest feeling fabric and is from the same clothing company as I mentioned last week from the post Rum Raisin {A Dress That Feels Good to Wear}. Right now Synergy Organic Clothing is offering a sale of 30% using the code hooray30. I’ll say “Hooray” to that too!

How do you color block in the fall? I’d love to hear your tips!

Keep smiling!missMollyHeader

I always associate color blocking with bold & colorful pieces but I love all the soft colors you picked out for this outfit. Great job!

    • December 8, 2015 / 2:57 pm

I’m with you! Color blocking is definitely something that is thought of as brighter colors, but who says you can’t try new things!

      Thank you!
      🙂 Molly
