Merry Christmas Eve everyone! This has been such a busy week for me and it will only get busier with all of the family festivities I have to go too! Of all the ways I have to be “busy,” spending it with family is definitely the best of all! I was recently tagged by the sweet Modish Memoire to share my Christmas traditions and I thought what better way to share a little bit about what Christmas is like in my house. I hope you enjoy this post as much as I enjoy writing about all things Christmasy!
What tops your tree?
A snowflake, which was actually a nickname given to me by a friend long ago. We don’t get much snow here in Seattle, but when we do I get incredibly excited about it! For laughs, here’s a poem I wrote about snow when I was in Kindergarten:
I love the way the snow sparkles. It makes me want to run out and play when I see snowflakes fall.
Oh to be five again.
Real or Fake Tree?
We have a fake tree this year, but I am all about the smell of fresh cut trees! Next year we will definitely go for a real tree.
Giving presents or Receiving them?
Gifts is my love language, so I definitely feel most loved when someone takes the time to give a heartfelt gift. However, the joy I get from giving a special gift to someone is even better!
What’s your favorite Christmas movie?
How could I decide?! It’s a tie between Miracle on 34th street (the newer one), the Santa Claus or Elf. I watch all three every year! Oh, and Home Alone is classic as well as White Christmas. OK so that was five, but I love watching Christmas movies!
Homemade Christmas Card or Purchased?
I LOVE to make Christmas Cards. They take a lot of time and this year I ended up buying them, but I love getting out all of my scrapbooking supplies and having fun making the cutest cards for my friends and family!
Do you have any Christmas Eve Traditions?
Every year, my husband and I spend Christmas Eve with his family in the mountains. They are such fun people to be around and we always play a hilarious White Elephant gift exchange with gag gifts. The only problem is, I always bring something very practical! That’s just who I am!
What is your favorite thing about Christmas?
I love all the traditions that Christmas has. The music, the movies, the decorations, Christmas lights, parades, and outdoor ice skating — but my favorite most of all is spending time with family. We make time for every single one of our family members and that is the biggest blessing of all!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas everyone!
I’d love to hear from you! What’s your favorite Christmas tradition?
Keep smiling!

Omg these are such amazing answers, I love this post! Your photos are also fantastic. This inspired me to start my own traditions with my family. We do tend to watch movies like Home Alone, but I think this year I”m going to watch Elf per your suggestion! I actually haven’t even seen that before.

What beautiful decor! Elf is the best Christmas movie out there! LOL I also love The Grinch! About the tree, I have a fear about real Christmas trees setting my house on fire so I will always stick to a fake one!!! hahaha!
