The Beautiful Challenge I Call Success

Think about the meaning of the word success. What does it mean to you? For some, being successful is having enough money to not work and to travel the world. For others being successful is doing what they love no matter how much they make. I was recently asked, “When do you think you can say you’ve made it as a fashion blogger.” It’s a fair question, especially when there are so many fashion bloggers out there that I look up to and respect and I am constantly growing in my individual success. Read on to find out how I answered this thoughtful question, to discover how I define success, and for some tips on helping you get there

I am definitely a goal-oriented person and am constantly striving to achieve my dreams. However, to me, success is more than just reaching those goals. Once I set and accomplish one goal, I am ready for the next challenge. Therefore, you can say that my goals are constantly changing. My view of success is growing along with me.

It’s true that by the technical definition success is “achieving the goals you set out to accomplish,” but we shouldn’t let it stop there. Open your mind to the mentality of continual growth. Always learning. Always achieving. Always accomplishing. My personal definition of success is defined by the ability to constantly pursue and achieve excellence. It’s a beautiful challenge and I willingly accept all the trials that go along with seeking it.

My answer to the question,”When do you think you can say you’ve made it as a fashion blogger,” was not one I had to think long and hard about. Immediately I started thinking of all the goals and dreams I have achieved as a blogger and the view of my future seemed like an endless pursuit of doing what I love.

Without hesitation, I responded, “I don’t think I can ever say that I’ve made it as a fashion blogger. There will always be some new goal to reach towards, some new collaboration and company to work with, or some new project to pursue under my brand.” That’s the beauty of success. It can be whatever you choose to make of it.

Maybe you look at me and think I’ve already “made it” as a fashion blogger. I’ve got to work with some really great brands, I’ve launched a ring collection, and I have almost 30,000 followers on Instagram, but to me, it’s just the beginning. As I strive to reach both my short and long term goals, I will always be refining my personal definition of success.

  1. Don’t limit your mindset. Think big, dream big, and set out to accomplish big goals. Expand your mindset to believe that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to if you work hard at it. And when the going get’s tough–as it always will–never give up!
  2. Let a goal be a goal, not a stopping place. Once you achieve a goal, don’t let it stop there. Dream up new ideas and set new goals. Continue pursuing to something bigger and better than you ever could have imagined and be proud of all that you’ve accomplished!

I have always been a goal setter, so I can tell we have a lot in common when it comes to success! I consider success to be when you love your life. I feel successful at this point in my life because I am happy. However, there will always be other things that are smaller successes throughout my life!

You and I are a lot a like – goal setting is where it’s at!!! So glad you appreciate the smaller successes along the way too!

Success, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. It’s beyond money and beyond happiness. It’s multi-faceted and usually a combination of many things. Also, ever-changing because people change. They evolve.

I was actually gong to write a post like this! I think I still will. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Molly, this is so true. Last week, my version of success was hitting 1k followers on insta and 5000 views a month. THIS WEEK, I want to hit 1.2k and grow my audience even more.

    • July 19, 2016 / 5:06 pm

Thank you Taylor – congrats on hitting 1k! I distinctly remember hitting that mark because it was such a huge deal for me! You should be really proud of your success and always celebrate the little accomplishments. Every 100 is a great time to do that!

I just love reading your posts. You’re always so positive and upbeat, and incredibly smart and motivating. You make me want to get up right now, at 11:45 at night, and go do SOMETHING to better myself. LOL!

    • July 19, 2016 / 5:07 pm

Shanna – You have no idea how much that means to me. Of course it is my heart to be positive and to inspire, but to hear that I am reaching that is such a blessing. Thank you for sharing that with me! Have a great week!

I’ve been following your journey since the beginning (or at least pretty close to it) and have always looked up to your drive, determination and kindness. I’d say you’ve made it, and I look forward to seeing continue to ‘make it’!!

LOVE THIS POST!!!!! And I completely agree with you. I have some accomplishments under my belt like being asked to give a social media webinar, getting Published for Huffington, working with companies like H&M, but I still don’t feel I am “made it.” I think it’s important to never limit or define your definition of success!

    • July 19, 2016 / 5:08 pm

Chelsea, you are total #GIRLBOSS status in my opinion! Never stop reaching for your dreams! I’m here cheering you on!
