A Letter to My Followers

Dear beautiful friends and followers,

You may have noticed my recent and sudden disappearance on Instagram. Unexplainable causes (seriously, I still don’t know why) led to my account being deactivated for about 30 hours. This was an unfortunate loss especially knowing that it happened the day after my sixth month anniversary of starting my Instagram account. Six months of hard work, beautiful comments, and genuine followers lost.

Although my account has thankfully been reactivated I had time to reflect on the past six months. Thinking I had lost everything, I found that the hardest thing about losing my Instagram was not the dedicated hours I spent on Instagram to get to where I was. It was not about the follower counts even though I just celebrated reaching 5k. It was not even the photos that were lost, because thankfully I had a way to recover those. The hardest thing about losing my Instagram account was losing my connections with you.

All of the sweet comments and interactions I have with you I will cherish forever. This situation that happened is just a reminder to me that not everything lasts forever. Take nothing for granted my friends.  Remember those who brought a smile to your face. Cherish what you hold most dear. For me I do not cherish my Instagram, I simply cherish the memories that are part of a fun, enjoyable, and sentimental six months.

Thank you for reading and for your continual support!

Keep smiling!

Molly, you look gorgeous! I love this pairing; the plum pants look amazing with the touches of leopard.

As for what happened to you on Instagram, that’s happened to me to. Instagram will put a block on our accounts if it sees that we’ve liked a lot of pics and commented a lot within a short amount of time, especially on bigger accounts that we follow and are not followers of ours. It interprets our actions as spamming and that’s why the lock is placed on the account. If it continues to happen, eventually they will deactivate the account entirely, which is why I’ve tried to slow down with the commenting. It’s sad that people who really do spam and abuse Instagram has made it worse for us in this regard.

I hope you have an amazing day and start to your weekend, beautiful!

Thank you Jalisa! I am sorry that this happened to you too! I am an active Instagram user, but make sure that I stay in the limits that they provide. I agree, it is so sad that spammers make it harder for genuine users trying to engage authentically in the community. Have a great weekend!

      Keep smiling!

Molly! I have been wanting to read this post for a while now – I am so sorry that this happened to you! Instagram has some guidelines that are definitely meant to protect us, but in turn, it puts bloggers at a serious disadvantage when it comes to actively engaging in the community. My account has been temporarily locked due to too many comments within a certain timeframe, which was very frustrating, but I cannot imagine how upset you must have been when your account was closed down. I am so glad everything was reinstated for you and the positivity with which you responded is inspiring! You are amazing and such a light, and I am so thankful to have connected with you!

    • November 2, 2015 / 8:44 pm

Thank you so much for reading Heather! It was so weird to see my account not locked, not closed down, just out of commission until I contacted them. They gave me no explanation either! I feel like if it was due to me being actively engaged I would have at least got a message warning me about comments. Their rules are great for spam, but not so much for active community members like me! Thank you for your kindness!

      Keep smiling!

Wow that is crazy. I’m sorry that happen to you. That is a good reason to create an email list so you have a way to communicate with the people you have connected with. Email list are all the rage now for bloggers, definitely think about creating one. It’s on my to-do list. Congrats on 5K followers. That is amazing!

    • November 2, 2015 / 8:45 pm

What a great idea to have a e-mail list! I will have to read up more on this to figure out how to effectively use this. I know it sure would have helped those who were so curious why I randomly disappeared! Thankful for my Twitter and Blog to keep friends updated!
