Dear beautiful friends and followers,
You may have noticed my recent and sudden disappearance on Instagram. Unexplainable causes (seriously, I still don’t know why) led to my account being deactivated for about 30 hours. This was an unfortunate loss especially knowing that it happened the day after my sixth month anniversary of starting my Instagram account. Six months of hard work, beautiful comments, and genuine followers lost.
Although my account has thankfully been reactivated I had time to reflect on the past six months. Thinking I had lost everything, I found that the hardest thing about losing my Instagram was not the dedicated hours I spent on Instagram to get to where I was. It was not about the follower counts even though I just celebrated reaching 5k. It was not even the photos that were lost, because thankfully I had a way to recover those. The hardest thing about losing my Instagram account was losing my connections with you.
All of the sweet comments and interactions I have with you I will cherish forever. This situation that happened is just a reminder to me that not everything lasts forever. Take nothing for granted my friends. Remember those who brought a smile to your face. Cherish what you hold most dear. For me I do not cherish my Instagram, I simply cherish the memories that are part of a fun, enjoyable, and sentimental six months.

As for what happened to you on Instagram, that’s happened to me to. Instagram will put a block on our accounts if it sees that we’ve liked a lot of pics and commented a lot within a short amount of time, especially on bigger accounts that we follow and are not followers of ours. It interprets our actions as spamming and that’s why the lock is placed on the account. If it continues to happen, eventually they will deactivate the account entirely, which is why I’ve tried to slow down with the commenting. It’s sad that people who really do spam and abuse Instagram has made it worse for us in this regard.

Molly! I have been wanting to read this post for a while now – I am so sorry that this happened to you! Instagram has some guidelines that are definitely meant to protect us, but in turn, it puts bloggers at a serious disadvantage when it comes to actively engaging in the community. My account has been temporarily locked due to too many comments within a certain timeframe, which was very frustrating, but I cannot imagine how upset you must have been when your account was closed down. I am so glad everything was reinstated for you and the positivity with which you responded is inspiring! You are amazing and such a light, and I am so thankful to have connected with you!

I feel like if it was due to me being actively engaged I would have at least got a message warning me about comments.
