An amazing thing happened on Sunday and I am still in awe about it! My Instagram reached 10,000 followers and this is such a huge milestone for me! I had always planned to take some fun photos for when I reached 10k and share a little bit more about me, but what I wasn’t expecting was that I would reach 10k the MOMENT we started doing test shots. It was actually caught on camera and it was done by my mother-in-law who waited to become my 10,000th follower. Such a special memory! These photos were so fun to take, because not only was I excited about my newest accomplishment, but I was also have a blast fighting with the balloons the whole time! You’ll see what I mean as I talk about a day in the life of what I do behind the scenes of fashion blogging.
That moment when you watch your follower count turn from 9999 to 10K!
Monday-Friday
6:30am – Time to rise and shine! Check social media and emails first thing. Reply to comments on Instagram, browse news feed, comment on friend’s photos.
7:00am – Get ready for work and leave by 7:45. I really should give myself more time to get ready in the morning, because 45 minutes is not enough time to get ready when you are attempting to look your best. Let’s not forget how easily distracted by Instagram I get. There are so many amazing women to follow and be inspired by! Anyway, there’s no doubt why I’m late for work sometimes. Sorry boss.
8:45am – Greet 16 cute and smiling faces at the doorway of my Kindergarten classroom. The day is busy and filled with me tirelessly singing, laughing, instructing, managing conflicts, opening containers, walking in lines (I call them my little ducklings), tying shoes, and all around just staying ahead of busy little five and six-year-olds. They keep me on my toes for sure, but it is extremely rewarding!
11:50am – Time to eat lunch! While getting my lunch from the fridge or eating, I spend a lot of my break replying to more comments, browsing my newsfeed and commenting on other photos. Sometimes I even manage to get a mid-day post in. I only get 25 minutes for lunch, but it’s a nice little recharge before spending the rest of the afternoon with entertaining Kindergartners!
4:00pm – The workday is done and now it’s time to do my second full-time job! Fashion blogging. It’s a lot to manage and honestly I get stressed out by it all sometimes, but keeping a planner has been my sanity. Immediately when I get home I change into my comfiest clothes and fuzzy socks (seriously, whoever invented these was brilliant). I tidy up the house, do some laundry, and spend more time on Instagram networking and commenting. Generally, I’ll get an Instagram post in for the evening too!
6:00pm – Blog, blog, and blog. Writing is my creative outlet and I love it. I used to have a teaching blog Good Morning, Miss Molly (I will always be Miss Molly to everyone I know) where I would write cute stories that occurred in Kindergarten. I loved it, however, it felt like I was always focused on teaching so my writing phased out. It is still up and gets traffic! Thank you, Pinterest.
7:00pm – Eat dinner. Before I started fashion blogging I was really good about meal planning and cooking. Now it seems my blog planning has replaced meal planning. One of my New Year’s resolutions is definitely to be getting back on top of this! Sometimes we go out, sometimes we get take out, but often my wonderful husband whips up a quick meal. He is a man of many talents!
8:00pm – Relax! I find it important to take a break from social media and find a way to just rest. This is REALLY hard for me to do because I am such a driven person. Whether it’s talking about my day with my husband, taking a bath, or watching a show, this time is just really important to decompress and spend time with my husband.
9:00pm – Graciously ask my husband to edit some photos for the week’s posts. I am SO thankful he does this for me to help me out. He is really fast at it and it gives me the chance to spend time on the other aspects of the business, such as replying to blog comments and commenting on other blogs. I think it’s so important to show support to other bloggers as much as I can! I also respond to e-mails from other bloggers or businesses and plan out my posting schedule during this time.
10:00pm – Reply to Instagram comments using Iconosquare. I am so much faster at responding when I can use a computer and I try my best to reply to everyone! It’s been really hard lately with all the love I’ve been getting!
11:00pm – Get lost on Pinterest or Instagram for a bit, then finally try to get a good night sleep to repeat everything again the next day!
Weekends?
Most of my weekends are filled with spending time with my husband and family and whatever other random activities pop up. During the summer, my husband (generous photographer) and I were able to take photos in the evenings after he got home from work. But now all we have is weekends. That means I have to plan outfits and get them photographed during a several outfit shoot. Sometimes the outfits are ones I wear during the week, other times just my weekend looks or outfits from special events. Generally, we will shoot about 3-4 at a time and each one takes 30 minutes with changes. I must say that I have become an expert at quick changes and changing discreetly after all my years of dancing! 😉

Congrats on killing it on Instagram!! Loved reading your day in the life post, I also have a hard time keeping on top of both meal planning AND blogging. It’s tough to find that perfect balance and better time management is one of my goals in 2016.
