6 Reasons Why You Can Still Wear White After Labor Day

I’m all about wearing white after Labor Day. Yes, you heard that right! Why, you ask? If you’re familiar with rules to fashion then you may have heard of the rule, “You can’t wear white after Labor Day.” Growing up and being the rule follower that I am, I always felt compelled to listen to these “style rules.” Every Labor Day I carefully put away my white purse and pants and would not bring them out again until spring. What was I thinking?! Now that I’m older (and I’d like to think a little bit wiser haha) I am all about throwing these fashion rules out the window and wearing what I love. This top from HER Boutique has inspired me to embrace the all white trend this season. Still not convinced to do it yourself? Today I’m sharing with you 6 reasons for why you definitely can wear white after Labor Day!HERboutique.com | Wearing White After Labor Day | White Jeans | Off the Shoulder top

1. There are no rules in fashion.

I am telling you now that it is perfectly acceptable to wear white after Labor Day, no matter the season. It is an old fashion rule, and if Coco Chanel herself wore white after Labor Day it is definitely not a rule I will be adhering to. While I am in the process of transitioning my wardrobe into fall fashion, I am OK with wearing white jeans, especially when the weather is still warm outside. There’s no denying that summer is still here! As long as it makes you feel good and you have a smile on your face, I say there is no problem with wearing it!

Let’s face it. Fall weather can be drab. There seems to be a connotation with wearing darker colors in the fall. I am absolutely obsessed with wine color tones and olive greens this season, but you won’t see me completely tossing out the whites in my wardrobe. Certainly I may wear white a bit less, but there’s nothing like fresh crisp white fabrics that seem to brighten my spirits even on a rainy day.HERboutique.com | Wearing White After Labor Day | White Jeans | Off the Shoulder topHERboutique.com | Wearing White After Labor Day | White Jeans | Off the Shoulder top

3. Every color can be worn all year.

If it looks great on you, wear it! There’s no reason why you should put away hot pink just because it feels like a summery color. The same thing goes with white. Not everyone looks great in earth tones and that’s totally ok! Wearing colors from your own color palette, even if it’s white, is a must do all year long.HERboutique.com | Wearing White After Labor Day | White Jeans | Off the Shoulder topHERboutique.com | Wearing White After Labor Day | White Jeans | Off the Shoulder top

4. Winter whites are beautiful.

Even though I may blend into the snow while wearing white in the winter months, it is definitely one of my favorite things to do. You don’t have to be a bride in the coming months in order to rock this color in style. There is nothing more elegant than a romantic soft white lace for an evening out and that can be done all year long if you want it to!

There are many ways to wear white in the fall and still be appropriately dress for fall weather. One of my favorite styling tips is mixing an edgy leather jacket or heavier fabric in with my whites. This not only brings a stunning contrast but keeps your outfit looking like you have fall on the mind. Some of my other favorite ways to wear white in the winter includes accessorizing with boots, hats, or scarves.HERboutique.com | Wearing White After Labor Day | White Jeans | Off the Shoulder top

6. Feeling confident in what you wear is top priority.

Above all else, whatever you put on should be something that makes you feel great. Remember that confidence comes from within. If it’s wearing white all year long that makes you feel confidence, then please embrace it with a smile! HERboutique.com | Wearing White After Labor Day | White Jeans | Off the Shoulder top

I love white any time of the year so this is perfect! I remember watching Fashion Police a couple years ago during the winter and Joan Rivers said that she LOVED the winter whites. So if she said it, it must be true!

I love your whole look!! Such a cute outfit. I agree you can wear white anytime of the year. Winter white is beautiful and I’ll wear it if I feel like it too…but then again I’ve always been a bit of a rebel HAHA

Yes! I don’t really know who makes up all these fashion “rules” but most of them are extremely ridiculous. Love ALL your white outfits!

Love all of your points, Molly! And I love that you actually expand on them!! I wear white all of the time, as I’m drawn to neutrals more than brighter colors. White all year round for me!
