The Spirit of Christmas

Hello my beautiful friends! I’m only a few days into my two week Christmas vacation and I am loving every minute of it! With only a few more days left until Christmas, I feel like I should be more in the holiday spirit. The truth is, I’m just not there this year. I’ve been way late on getting my Christmas presents, and I still have more presents to wrap! I know, I’m cutting it way close. I’ve been working on getting my holiday looks to the blog, editing photos, writing a lot, and all of that fun blogger stuff, and in the business of that I haven’t had a lot of focus to what truly matters.

To be honest, I’ve been a little mad at Christmas this year. OK not mad, but a little disheartened about the consumerism that is driven behind it all. Feeling the need to shop, buy the best presents, and getting everything perfectly presented under my Christmas tree. Maybe Charlie Brown is getting in my head a little, but as much as I love red shoes and sparkly tops, this is not what Christmas is about.

stylemissmolly_2204_blog I have to slow down and remember the reason of the season. It’s not about being busy or getting in as many Christmas parties and parades as you can go to. It’s not about gifts, Christmas decorations or pretty wrapping paper. It’s not even about Christmas lights as much as I love them. Christmas is about love and sharing that with others. We love because He first loved us. Out of everything I am so thankful to remember that and spend time with my family! Cherish your loved ones, hold them a little closer, and treasure every second you spend with them!

Give the gift of a smile this year and make memories that cannot be forgotten. Choose to show extra love to those who might not get it a lot. That’s how I’m honoring Christmas this year! How are you choosing to spend this Christmas season?

Keep smiling!

You are so right, Molly! I feel each year, each holiday moves further and further away from the true meaning behind it and is more focused on the material aspects of it and how it’s showcased to the world. I know a lot of it has to do with social media and many feeling the need to look like they’re living the best lives ever, but it really does take away from the meaning and distracts us from focusing on what matters most, our loved ones. Thanks for touching on this, as it is so important to address.

As for your outfit, you look amazing, girl! I love everything about it and your hair looks wonderful; you’re such a beauty inside AND out 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful time spent with your loved ones this holiday!

    XO,

    Jalisa

Such beautiful words Jalisa! You are so right, I too think social media has a lot to do with it. We are constantly focused on the next thing we need or want! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Bless you!

Ahhh those shoes are beyond gorgeous!! I can totally relate with all that goes into Christmas and this year I even suggested to my parents we just do a secret santa instead. I mean don’t get me wrong I love buying gifts for people, but I think it would be nice to change things up one year!. I’m definitely grateful for spending time with family and friends!

I’m so glad you get me! What a fun idea doing a secret Santa! It works especially when you have a big family, and it’s not about the gifts anyway. Just FAMILY! Maybe next year!
