Hello my lovely friends! I am so mad about plaid this fall I did something crazy and paired them both together! Yes, that’s right. In the same outfit! I got this scarf from Target and was having fun playing around with the styling of it in my closet. I took a risk pairing it with my plaid shirt and call me crazy, but this actually works. There are three reasons why styling a plaid scarf with a plaid shirt works, and I’m giving them to you now!
When mixing prints you want to look for colors that match. Pairing these together would definitely not work if my scarf did not have the same red or burgundy tones as my shirt.
2. The print is a contrast between a larger plaid and smaller, condensed plaid.
The contrast between the two prints adds variety without it looking too overwhelming. This tip was mentioned in my article Mixed Prints for Beginners – check it out for more basic tips!
3. I added a third solid piece.
Adding a third piece that’s solid to the mix will immediately tone down the mixed prints. The military jacket is a perfect way to break up the plaid and is a quintessential fall combination!
I finished styling the look with my go-to MIA ankle boots and my new favorite Peach Box jewelry. They sent me this adorable buckle bracelet and Audrey earrings to show you and I was genuinely surprised by the quality of their jewelry! You can get 15% off using my code tpb-stylemissmolly.
